Sophie Ratner Jewelry was launched in 2016 with a simple idea: that fine jewelry is meant to be worn every day and in every setting. Few experiences compare with the heightened feeling of exquisite, handcrafted jewelry against the skin.
Sophie Ratner has dedicated herself to the craft of metalsmithing, a commitment keenly reflected in each of her pieces. Her jewelry is made by hand in her NYC studio using the finest quality materials, including ethically sourced fourteen karat gold and conflict-free diamonds.
Sophie Ratner - Founder and Creative Director
Sophie was born and raised on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. She studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, initially majoring in painting. Unsatisfied by an art form admired only at a distance, she longed for a medium that was both tangible and intensely personal. She switched to Jewelry design, attracted by the high levels of craftmanship required and the essential connection it creates between art and the human form. At its best, jewelry not only enhances the way individuals look, but changes the way they feel about themselves.
Sophie’s vision after graduation was to open her own business and create beautiful airy designs entirely comfortable for everyday living. Sophie's jewelry is meant to be worn, not sit in a dusty box. And this is the essence of her creative process: she makes her pieces with her customer in mind – what she needs, wants, and what will best suit her lifestyle.
